PSAT - Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test

91ÌÒÉ« High School will administer the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT) during the school day on Friday, Oct. 23, starting at 7:45 a.m. in the main gymnasium.

Any student who is a sophomore or junior during the 2026–27 school year may take the test. 


PSAT Registration

Please note that you need to sign up for the test ahead of time online by filling out this . 

Prior to the exam, you will receive several important email updates about what you need for test day. Make sure you enter a valid email address on the registration form.


Description of the PSAT

The PSAT is a national test that measures students’ abilities in critical reading, math and writing. Students will be able to see how their scores compare to other sophomores and juniors across the country. In addition, the PSAT is a great way to prepare for the SAT, which juniors will have the opportunity to take in the spring as they continue on their pathway to college and careers.


PSAT format

It is very important to know that this PSAT administration will be computer-based. Students will take the PSAT using their school-issued Chromebook (personal devices will not be permitted for this test).

A very limited number of extra Chromebooks will be available in case of technical difficulties. Before test day, students must sign up for an account with to receive their scores. 


PSAT fee information

The cost of the exam is $18 per student. You will receive information on how to pay in the days before the exam. No payment is due immediately.

If you have an extenuating circumstance and need consideration for assistance in paying the $18 fee, please see your academy principal. Fee assistance is not guaranteed.


Test day schedule

7:45 a.m. | Students enter via the main entrance on Washington Ave. and report to the main gym.

8 a.m.  |  Testing begins 

Noon |  Testing ends for most students

Please note this schedule is approximate and times may vary. The test is timed on the computer, with breaks between sections built in.


Transportation

Please note that Friday, Oct. 23, is not a regular school day. It is a staff development and parent-teacher conference day. CDTA tripper buses will be available to get you to school that morning. You will be able to take regularly-scheduled (non-tripper) CDTA buses to get home after the test.
